I got the below coin off e-bay about three years ago. It was described as "multiple error mystery coin". I definitely recognized it as having a brockage from a struck fragment (obverse) struck into the reverse, a struck through obverse, and also broadstruck. Possibly a struck fragment brockage on obverse too. Definitely a few other things going on too. Really pretty in hand, a nice blazer.

The struck fragment is from the reverse.

Also some of the lettering from " In God We Trust" has a cool disintegration look to it which I assume was related to being broadstruck along with extra fragments in the chamber allowing for a bit more metal flow before trying to fill the dies.

Was wondering if I should send this out to get graded? Maybe one of the PCGS double holders.

It's a fantastic error, but will grading raise the value?

Wow that is pretty cool. I'm almost never in favor of slabbing errors, but having both the main coin and the struck through fragment together is compelling.

Grade is not the most important factor in this case.
Authenticity is.

A total win. Broadstruck with struck through fragment and the fragment (love that G on the reverse) plus the obverse struck through. I'd slab it. It'll be expensive but worth it as you'll get your value out in the end if you ever decide to sell it.

I think I paid around $200. It was a tad on the high end for me at the time, but it was one of the more unique errors I had seen in a long time which was still with my budget.

What a unique error coin. Love that G on the reverse as well.
I was trying to visualize the reverse before the struckthrough fragment came off and compare/differentiate it to/from a lamination. When the fragment was still on the coin the G wouldn't have been visible inside the recess for the easy struckthrough ID.
I realized the best indicator of this struckthrough before it fell out would be the irregular shape, instead of linear (which is usually the case with laminations).

It's a broadstrike, struck through a previously struck fragment and he has both the coin and the fragment.

And then there is a completely different coin in the tread as well.

No, it's all the same coin. The obverse is struck through likely some grease over the RT of liberty. There is also another potential partial blockage struck through struck fragment running through the IB of liberty on the obverse. It's hard to see but it appears that this struck through obverse fragment had part of one of the wheat stalks on it.

I do not have the fragment from the obverse indent/strike through.
