Not sure if this is double die it is silver looking shadowing.

It has split plating that is showing the zinc core.

Yes exactly--worth face value. This is a defect in the manufacturing process rather than a collectible error. Of course, save it if you want to as it is interesting to look at.

As the coin is struck the metal is forced outward radially. At the edge of the letters the surface metal is trying to move up into the letter and also outward. Sometimes the stress becomes too much and the plating splits at the edge of the letter the as the metal surface moves outward it opens the gap where the plating split and exposes the silver colored zinc core. No actual doubling occurs but you get a silver outline on the side closest to the rim which gives it a doubled appearance.
