I'm not seeing a DDO, just the reflection of the light.

The main thing I noticed is W and E in the second picture. It looks like they might be doubled and have split serifs, but it could be the lighting.

Yes - Congratulations! You have a 1965 DDO and a DDR. The notching is obvious to people used to searching through too many of these 40% Kennedy halves for varieties (guilty). I do not see pics of this one at varietyvista.com, not checked the Conceca written descriptions. Some of the obvious notching is on WE in the W's tops serifs, and the E's bottom serif. The G in God is obviously doubled, and the top left of the D also seems to have a small notch at the top. The stars and letters on the REV that you mentioned also are notched.

I do not think your half dollar is the CONECA listed 65 BS DDO-004/DDR-001 or anything else in the listings, after looking at your photos. See attached photos of the DDO-004/DDR-001 from my collection. I believe that most of the doubling you see in your photos is just reflection and glare doubling. Look at your zoom photo of the obverse, the G in GOD, no doubling. Compare it with your close up photo of the G in GOD...reflection and glare doubling.

I agree I do not see THIS DDO / DDR as matching with any of the listings on VV. However I do see notching in the (problems with lighting) pictures the OP has posted. I do not have a digital microscope, but use a binocular dissecting microscope. I have clearly identified at least 50 or more JFK doubled dies (matching VV listings, and some not recorded) using this microscope. Unfortunately my pictures of many of my doubled dies look like the OPs due to my learning how to take pics when I was roll searching over 300K halves. But my pack of picture ability when finding these also means I am used to looking at pics of this nature showing DDOs and DDRs. Here are the notches I see using the OPs pics: And here are some of my own poor pics of one of my 65 DDOs which clearly shows doubling in hand where the arrows point, but the pics are lousy.

Earle42...I also use a binocular dissecting scope (American Optical). I do think the OP's photos do mostly show reflection and glare doubling. I can't see any evidence on the OP's full reverse photo when I blow it up, of the notching you pointed out. If there is anything to it, it would be very minor. By the way if you haven't attributed the 65 DDO from your added photos It looks like the 65 BS DDO-006, stage C. Note the attached photos of the die scratches above WE and inside the E. Also there is a die crack starting on the bottom left on the neck, from my collection.

What's in red I think is reflection doubling but what's in blue looks pretty clear spread

@atrox Quote:By the way if you haven't attributed the 65 DDO from your added photos It looks like the 65 BS DDO-006, stage C. Thanks for this info However, Sorry for the confusion. The pics I added in my last post were the OPs and can be seen in his first post. I just took HIS pics, zoomed them, and pointed out the notching I was seeing. I agree there is some reflection "doubling" there as well. My own pics of my own coins also show reflection as I did not have pic taking skills back then. So I am used to seeing, ID'ing, and ignoring reflection doubling.

@Mrfixit None of the pictures I have posted are pics I personally took. Every pic I posted is your own. I just zoomed in and added arrows. I have setup I use for taking pics, but never tried to perfect it b/c other things got in the way. This link shows how I started - it only cost 1.00 - and I still use a variation of this: http://goccf.com/t/243488Scroll down in that thread to see the simpler innovation made by Bigsilver using a spice jar cap!
Then I built the following using the laser pointer lens concept: Typical pic:
The best overall setup I have seen is from Darth Morgan: http://goccf.com/t/160092I made my own system like his but have yet to really put time into try to find the best lighting setup. I have 15.00 into it and I know there is a lot of untapped potential, I just have not had the time to play with the diffusing. Typical pic - note lighting is still off, I am planning on using more diffusion to correct it:
