Note the outside edges are affected. On a doubled the devices are enlarged in the center:

MD happens on the outsides of devices, because of swing of the dies right after the strike, hit them like a kick in the shin. On a doubled die, the hub creates the doubling, on the the die, thus the term "Doubled Die." But as
Machine Doubling can affect normal dies, even doubled dies can be affect with the same issue. But on them, you can see the doubling and then the
Machine Doubling only on certain areas in the direction the dies moved after the strike:

DDO.
