I posted this coin in the classic errors because I had a question about its weight (4.46g). I have since noticed what looks like multiple die break / spike heads. Just trying to get more eyes on this. Would this be something Cuds on coins might list? It is dateless unfortunately.

Opinions on weight discrepancy are welcome.

Thanks for looking!

Looks like an acid like Nick-a-date was used on it and it raised the surface a bit. Because if didn't achieve the raising of the date, it was spent.

At least the S Mint mark is still clear.

Thanks for the comments!

After another look I am able to make out "18" on the date. Pretty sure this is a 1918 S.

Thanks Coop for that info. I looked up nic a date, as I wasn't aware before, and there are some similarities. Do we know if using nic a date causes a reduction in weight? I would be curious to see some of the weights of these nic'd buffalos.
