Just wondering what type of error this is and if it adds any extra value? Thanks!

What makes you think it's an error?

Your coin use to look something like this:

1936-P-Quarter---Is-This-A-Strike-Through-Error?

I'm not sure if it is an error or not. I think it may be a strike through due to the middle of the obverse side of the coin being concave and the lettering on both sides being equally missing and or worn.

My coin also looks similar to strike through coins listed on the PCGS website.

I think we're looking at a well-worn '36 silver quarter--with emphasis on well-worn. Many, many miles on the odometer.

I don't think so, I think it's just worn.

1 example from PCGS has been included in my OP. There's also another example on ebay and the coin looks exactly like mine being sold as a strike through error. "1936-d Washington quarter 300f8" is what it is listed as.

The rim of the Kennedy is not worn down, the quarter is.

Notice how the coin you posted has full and distinct rims? that, combined with weak devices, is an indicator of a low pressure strike or Struck Through Grease or some other type of error. The coin you posted has the rims completely worn away, and is an indicator that the flatness you see on the devices is just wear unfortunately.

Edit: ussid beat me to it!

Just a worn quarter. Not a Grease Filled Die.

Thanks for the input. I'm still new to numismatic. I've finally found time this year to pursue this hobby on a regular basis.

They are both worth silver melt. The JFK is a Struck Through Grease issue, but not much of a premium unless it is missing a lot of detail:
1936-P-Quarter---Is-This-A-Strike-Through-Error?
Then you will make eyebrows rise.
