NGC - Coin of the Day: Today is Defenders Day in Maryland, celebrating the anniversary of American forces' successful defense of Baltimore against British attack during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key wrote the poem that became America's national anthem, the opening words of which are shown on the reverse of this 2012-W Star-Spangled Banner $5 Gold Commemorative.
The obverse design is a little cartoon-ish for my taste; however I like any design with boats so I'll let it slide. Wouldn't mind adding this one to the collection.
