I just got the email from the Mint. The rest of the Morgans and the Peace dollar are delayed until they get things together to make for a better online buying experience. I'm disappointed with the delay, but glad that they are getting their act together. I'm undecided about which of those is the stronger feeling at the moment! |

Dear Valued Customer, The United States Mint is committed to providing the best possible online experience to its customers. The global silver shortage has driven demand for many of our bullion and numismatic products to record heights. This level of demand is felt most acutely by the Mint during the initial product release of numismatic items. Most recently in the pre-order window for 2021 Morgan dollar with Carson City privy mark (21XC) and New Orleans privy mark (21XD), the extraordinary volume of web traffic caused significant numbers of Mint customers to experience website anomalies that resulted in their inability to complete transactions. In the interest of properly rectifying the situation, the Mint is postponing the pre-order windows for the remaining 2021 Morgan and Peace silver dollars that were originally scheduled for June 1 ( Morgan dollars struck at Denver (21XG) and San Francisco (21XF)) and June 7 ( Morgan dollar struck at Philadelphia (21XE) and the Peace dollar (21XH)). While inconvenient to many, this deliberate delay will give the Mint the time necessary to obtain web traffic management tools to enhance the user experience. As the demand for silver remains greater than the supply, the reality is such that not everyone will be able to purchase a coin. However, we are confident that during the postponement, we will be able to greatly improve on our ability to deliver the utmost positive U.S. Mint experience that our customers deserve. We will announce revised pre-order launch dates as soon as possible. Thank you for a being a United States Mint customer. |

darn. This really puts a damper on the set. I wonder what they will be doing for the rest of the Morgan's and Peace dollars. It's nice that they will finally listen to customers, but I hope they won't do anything in terms of montages, finishes or the CC/O coins already sold... I guess we will find out. |

I made it 4 times to the final check out and kept getting kicked out.. It seems like whenever I go to the mint website and try to order something on the day of issue or order date I get booted.
Hopefully they get it right.

It's a good move if they actually do something that makes a significant improvement. Quote:

Given that they know this, why would then not change the household order limit to 1 or 2? Reality is that many more people would have been able to get the silver dollars if they had a lower limit. |

They already played this game before with the V75 privy. They said they made improvements.
The difference was and still is that when you "place order" and get the spinny wheel now, you have like a 25% chance of it actually placing the order. If you got that far before the V75 was released, the order always placed

If it means we (the average collector) have a better chance to actually get these coins I'm all good, but what I've seen is actually the opposite with higher household limits. I mean how many of us are going to buy 10 coins? Other than the flipper or dealer we are being left out (and this is from some one that was able to get the ERP, V75 and the 2 Morgans so far).

I got the same email. Not sure how I feel about it, knowing that "web traffic management tools" can take this in either direction, better or worse.  |

If they could do something like allowing anyone who has had a mint account for over 1 year and / or has purchased an item from the mint in the last 5 years to enroll / reserve ONE coin of each variety / mint / privy, they could better ensure that real collectors get an opportunity to obtain these.

They need more than web traffic tools - they need a completely different process for allocating and reserving popular issues that eliminates or greatly reduces the mad rush of people all hitting the site at once.
