Not sure that it's a 1947 but I'm sure there's someone out there that can tell me what happen to this nickel and does it have any value, thanks

But in seriousness, I would guess a coin that got corroded by spending time in a wet environment and then later in its life became a Dryer Coin.

When a coin gets stuck in the drum of the dryer, the rolling motion folds the edge rim in on itself, causing the shape you see here.

to CCF. First off,not a mint error. Looks like either a Dryer Coin or a spooned coin. Because nickel is much harder than silver I doubt it is spooned. Most likely a Dryer Coin, but the color looks like environmental damaged like from being buried in the ground for a while.Hope this info helps you some with your research, good luck.

@jc123, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes an interesting find even if it doesn't increase the value of the coin. If you use the keywords Dryer Coin in the CCF search box you will see other examples of this phenomenon.

Too, the nickel could have been deliberately spooned. Search 'spooned coin' on google.
