I am new to coin collecting so I am looking for a bit of information. I came across this mis struck 2016 penny. I assume newer coins have less errors due to technology, but that is just a guess. Can anyone tell me the rarity/value of this coin? Thanks in advance for any advice.

A nice Misaligned Die Strike. I haven't seen many of these on shield cents. Nice find! !

Thanks for the information. I was looking for mis strike instead of off center and wasn't coming up with much info. It seems like they may have different meaning.

Nice off center cent. It appears to be problem free as well. Definitely a 2x2 keeper!

I would call this a broad struck coin. Note how the edges are not squared, so it was struck out of the collar. All of the devices are present, so it would not be an off center, but it is a broad struck coin.

As to value of this error coin I'd recommend checking ebay's SOLD listings to see what similar coins have actually sold for. Don't waste your time checking asking prices because anyone can ask any amount, but it's the amount they actually sell for that is useful. Good luck to the CCF!

bi-facial misaligned dies, and a partial collar strike due to the planchet not being able to seat correctly in the collar.
speculation.. could be a tilt to the misaligned anvil die causing the planchet to almost seat but not quite. Heads is anvil side, Tails is hammer side. squish past the collar between noon and 6. it's not a broadstruck in the sense that it's completely out of collar. A partial collar coin has a split-level edge thats more visible from the side view of the coin
side view pictures might make it more apparent as to whether its'a partial collar or a broadstrike.
