I don't see anything uncommon. Coins get beat up in circulation and all sort of marks can happen.

A well-circulated '61 nickel with a nice die crack and some subtle toning. Without sharper images, it's difficult to weigh-in on any doubling. High resolution photos might help.

The crack actually runs from top to bottom but I don't have a way to take higher resolution pics right now.

If a line is incuse, then it is a coin scratch. )).jpg) If the line is raised, then it is a die crack. I'm seeing the line on the building that is incuse.

Thank you for the info Coop. I am going to see a collector tomorrow morning about a hand full of error coins I have found in the last 2 days. He has a scope so I really am anxious to see it fully.

Quote: a hand full of error coins I have found in the last 2 days I believe you are in for a letdown. Error coins are not nearly as common as your sentence indicates.

Error coins are not damaged coins. Damaged coins are just face value coins. Die event coins may have little if any premium to a collector. They are interesting to look at, but common and easy to find. If it is a shop, chances are they will not be interested in damaged coins, but would be interested true error coins.

None of the coins are worth much. A few dollars here and there is all. The only one I have that should be really valuable is a 1992-S mint set unopened and the Kennedy half-dollar has doubling in TRUST.

I see what looks like a die crack going from the rim past the last S(STATES) to the left side of the C(CENTS), but then it seems to disappear.
All the closeups are out of focus but maybe you can post a clear image of the whole reverse?
