LATE EDIT: I am leaving this original post here intact but there is discussion that follows as to what exactly I have here. It is NOT a Broadstrike.
It is most likely 1 pc out of 8 that would be included in a "Process Set"

BROADSTRUCK ERROR Not only is Theodore Roosevelt my favorite issue of the .999 silver Medallic Art Company President series medals, this 1963 Theodore Roosevelt is a broadstruck error! It is certainly the first one I have ever seen of any of these in bronze or silver. I have never seen another broadstrike of any of the Declaration signers, or statehood similar series either. But I am super happy that this happened on the President Theodore Roosevelt issue.  I do have a few error medals of themes or persons that I tend to favor collecting. I have quite a few Theodore Roosevelt items now in my exonumia collection. It may have some hairline scratches from a improper cleaning or those lines might be more evident because of the lack of a collar present in striking process. When a collar is absent more detail will show, and the lines may be polishing marks from the dies. I shall see. It's on the way and better images will update soon. Well, even if it were cleaned, I am not all that upset because of the rarity. I might get this one slabbed. Edited by TNG

I also am not seeing this photo, perhaps it is where it is saved? A similar thing happened to one of Jbuck's posts recently: It was saved in a gallery.

Photo is not showing for me either. I do not put much faith in something like that because they,Medallic Art Company and other non U.S.Mint companies could have made it intentionally. John1  |

Hmm the pics are showing for me no prob. @tng, it kinda looks like there is part of a previous design visible on the rev. Maybe overstruck also?

Your shot of the reverse side appears to be somewhat oval compared
to the circular obverse.
Is this an optical illusion or does it really look like that?

Interesting piece! Thanks for sharing it! I'm not sure "broadstruck error" would be the best term to describe this piece because these types of high-relief medals are not typically struck in collars. The piece looks like those found in process sets for medals - process sets most often are used to show the progression of steps a high-relief medal goes through as it moves from planchet to final product. Have a look at my Missouri Statehood Medal Process Set here. It shows several stages during which there is excess metal around the core design of the medal. I wonder if your medal was once part of a process set? Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

A broadstrike would not have the rims at all. So broadstrike or broadstruck may not be the issue here. Commems, I bet you have something there being part of a process set but whatever it is, it is unusual. "Process Set" is new info for me. So there's still time for me to edit the thread title and 1st post with an add on. I'll leave it as is then add for educational purposes. Intentional, probably (if part of a process set) but still the only one I have ever seen. Quote:

to the circular obverse. Very observant! It's photography, both sides same shape I am sure. Better images are coming. Overstruck? I doubt it, however there is a couple extra metal clumps near the rim that throw me off. Edited by TNG

One other thing, I will weigh this. If it is significantly heavier than it is supposed to be, then it is definately NOT a broadstrike. I have found other Medallic Art Co "Process Set" items just now but they all seem to have a lot less excess outer metal than this one.

People are having issues seeing my CCF gallery photos as well. It could be that the CCF Gallery site (coincommunity.org) is not secure (HTTP) and some browsers may block mixed content (HTTPS and HTTP on one page). So, check your browser settings and set an exclusion for coincommunity.org.
