Unknown Worn Gold Coin UK Anybody Know What It Is Thanks

I have asked what it could be on other sites but nobody as a clue it is 10 grams in weight and as you can see it is worn but you can make out a male bust on the front of the coin. Gold never reacts with oxygen (one of the most active elements), which means it will not rust or tarnish. Gold tarnish is usually very thin and shows up as a darkening of reflecting surfaces. Pure gold is a noble precious metal, and the least reactive of all metals. It does not rust, nor will it tarnish. What I can make out the coin appears to be either Roman Provincial or Greek and is made of bronze. I don't think there is enough detail to make a positive ID, but I'm going to move it over to the Ancient coin section, were it might be identified. Report this Post to the Staff

snoozerpm New Member United Kingdom 2 Posts	Posted 10/20/2020 10:33 pm Thanks everyone it was purchased as a joblot of coins at carboot sale (garage sale)A friend tested it with nitric acid and there was no reaction. Does nitric acid not react with bronze or copper. I was unsure myself and that's why I got I checked out but maybe it is bronze or copper because I thought the same that gold would stay untarnished and in good condition.
