Hi All, 1939 Jefferson nickel cant tell if Error or PMD on AMERICA, specifically the M. Thanks in advance for any help.

@cma, that does kinda look like a split serif on the M, but it looks like damage to me. Plus perhaps a little Machine Doubling that is most evident on the letter E.
