Can you please provide well focus pictures so we can give an accurate opinion? From here it looks like the typical Die Deterioration that MANY dimes from the late sixties show.

Here are a few link on cell phone pics: http://goccf.com/t/160092http://goccf.com/t/116512http://goccf.com/t/243488As to a scope: nothing over 150x power, you will have a problem with the on board lights. I have two scopes and had to block off all but one light @12k position and put a filter on that one.One of my scopes cost $20 and the other $70. I use a point-n-shoot digital camera most of the time because it is easier. John1

Looks more like vending machine damage. Back when this coin was struck, a lot of dimes were used in soda machines. That contact would affect that area of the devices. Note the date/mintmark is also showing the same event. Also the upper half of the Liberty devices are showing the same affect. Same for all the reverse devices. PSD.

I'm seeing a well-circulated '68 D dime--much wear, with dings and hits (and crud). Then add the unfortunate outcomes of Die Deterioration. Sadly, no DDO.
