I have this one in an NGC slab, but am considering sending it to PCGS. I'm interested in your thoughts on the grade as I put it a grade higher than NGC has it.   |

Bear in mind that the TPGs have been tightening up on their grading.
Been that way for a year or two.

Difficult to get a feel of the fields from the photos, wild guess would be 64 though, pretty coin! love the color

I don't see any signs of wear, but the apparent roller marks on the obverse may limit it to MS-62.

Thanks everyone. NGC does have it as a 64. I was thinking a bit higher, but I'm of course biased as the owner. The roller marks don't seem to have been a factor. The bronze color is stunning in person...it quickly became my favorite of the coins I own.

Are you considering PCGS based solely on the fact of resale?
Do you plan on selling your favorite coin?

Nice looking example! I'm with the others saying leave it be. PCGS has been tough lately on several series, this being one of them. I don't see this hitting a 65, and IMO, odds are slightly against you even for a crossover.

Keep it in that holder. A buyer for that half would look at coin first, and the TPG's opinion second. |

its a beautiful coin. I have it at MS64. love the strike and eye appeal. I dont think PCGS would go any higher so I dont see any reason to break it out.

Just to respond to a few things. I do plan to follow Coinfrog's (and others) advice and leave well enough alone. Although I prefer it to be in a PCGS slab, I wouldn't do it unless there was a reasonable shot at 65. The NGC slab is in great condition and I see no particular reason to break it out.
I am open to selling it because I want to focus more on some higher-dollar pre-1800 coins, but I don't specifically have it for sale and I am in no hurry to get rid ot it. It would take a really strong offer and/or the appearance of a pre-1800 dollar or half that I think I'd like better. Even then, the bronze appearance of this one is so striking that it would be really hard to let it go.
