Hello all, going through a roll of new pennies I found this odd one where it looks like it might have a D next to the D. At certain angles it looks like there might even be two D (one offset to the west, but straight up and down, the other offset to the west and rotated counterclockwise). Or it might be a splotch. Anyway, tried to get a few angles and light-looking for your opinions! Thank you!

to CCF. RPMs stopped in 1990 so it can't be that. It looks like a water spot stain from the mint.

@cute, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that it isn't an RPM. If it is flat with the surface of the coin, then it is surface staining. If it protrudes up above the surface of the coin then it likely is the zinc core starting to deteriorate. Either way this one is a spender.

As mentioned, it is a water spot on the planchet. Note the next to the last image, you can see that it is round, like like a water spot.

Thank you! Everyone is so helpful....I am not sure but yes, there are some marks next to the D in GOD also...I will take a look at my camera. I'll look at the marks next to GOD and if they look interesting I'll post a pic. This was the only interesting coin out of the bunch. They almost all had water marks. Is that just something to be left alone? Or can they be removed without it considered damaging the coin?
