Please post sharper, close up, upright pictures please. Pics too blurry to judge, but something looks off in this one.....could just be the pics.

Much better images. Seems to be EF-40 or so. Can you give us a close-up of the MM area?

I don't see a CC mintmark, but I agree it seems about XF-40.

Agree, looks like the Philadelphia issue in XF-something. Good for silver-stacking but not worth having certified.

Quote: Yeah there is no mint mark on this at all. Might want to edit the thread title, you have it as an 1885-CC.

There's a mark above the eagle's head (under the e in we) that looks elevated. If it were a hit that shoved the metal up, wouldn't there be a deep gouge as well?

It starts below the "we" goes through the "w" on the lower left corner and then continues to the top right on the "d" in God. Also on the front face the cheek has a small divet, could be something got into the casting.

Center of the mark below We is the hit, metal on either side is raised, displaced metal from said hit. The marks in God We are also just a hit. Not casting errors.... IMO. Regardless, value is a small premium over melt.
