1970-S Philly Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Improperly Annealed?

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/19/2020 7:59 pm People attach them to paper, attach coins to another coin. We see this a lot here. The clear glue is Elmer's glue. The harder types are acrylic/epoxy/super glue. (The list can go on and on) These may just peel off the coin with a fingernail? or have to be dissolved, with something like lacquer thinner. Sometimes it is permanent. But it is not a mint error, so it can be spent if it is not a variety coin. Report this Post to the Staff
oriole Pillar of the Community Canada 5253 Posts	Posted 11/19/2020 8:24 pm @Coinerin, one thing collectors discover fairly soon is that coin, especially the 1 cent coins, have been used and abused in every way imaginable: drilling, smashing, heating, gluing, grinding, plating, etc. In some cases, it is pure vandalism, in other cases accidental, and still other cases the coins are used as raw material for projects of one sort or another. merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 11/19/2020 10:51 pm I agree with all of the above. Who knows how your cents were used/abused, they just are now. The longer soft adhesives (like clear tape) sit on the coin's surface, the harder they become. Bottomline: your cents were not damaged at the mint, they did not leave the mint looking like yours.
