I just hauled a $50 bag from a downtown bank coin machine into the house. Got a backlog of $125 in cents to look through; I will be VERY busy the next few days!

Just found a 1980 doubled die (the big one) and posted it in the error and variety forum.

Picked up my first two sealed boxes of pennies from my credit union. Wasn't really sure what I was getting so after dinner I tore into the first box. In the second roll there was a 1953 wheatie. And then they kept on coming. I haven't finished the box yet (still got about 2 rows of pennies left in it, but in addition to the 200 or so coppers that I pulled out, I found:

1938
1937-S
1949-D
1951-S
1952-D
1953-D
1954-D
1955-D

And an absolutely beautiful deep red 1959-D. The picture here doesn't do it justice. It's the reddest penny I've ever seen in my life. It almost glows! Not sure what to do with it. It's not a key date as far as I can tell, so I think it'll just go into an album (as soon as I get some albums).

Anyway, I'll finish this box later today and I can't wait to get into the second box!

In true Interwebs tradition, I stole the pix.

Just curious....is there a safe way to get fingerprints off a penny ?

Usually, no. Try acetone.

Finished up my first box of pennies and found 2 more wheaties (55 and 45). Then I found 17 more in the first two rolls of the second box. Final tally for the night, 19 wheaties (1940-1955), a 1961 wood grain and a 1960D with the 9 filled in.

Posted it here for comments https://goccf.com/t/114038 on what it is.

Going to finish up this box tonight. Going out of town next week so I won't be able to pick up more til I get back. Don't think TSA would let me through with 50lbs of pennies anyway :) But I'm addicted now!

hi All, I haven't been around in a while and just went through a box-o-cents last weekend. Here's what I found, sorry no pics of actual finds. It's motivated me to get another box this weekend.

- A 1892 Netherlands cent. From what I can find it's valued around $3 to $25.
(just a stock photo, not the actual find, but it's very similar)
Cool-Lincoln-Roll-Finds-From-Bank-Rolls----Post-Yours!

- 3 wheats. Mixed years, non-key dates ranging 30's to 50's.

- A couple upgrades for my circulated modern US cent collection.

- 4 PMD 'golden' colored coated/plated pennies.

- 50% pre-1982 copper (which if I remember correctly is a pretty good percentage.)

- No errors/varieties :| just some misc. small dates.

Brought 5 of the rolls to work with me and found 3 more wheaties. 44, 51-D and 58-D

This second box has been awesome for LWC :)

Nice find on the Netherlands coin. And an old-timer at that!
