Nice find, CND. If you are only going to find one copper in the box, it might as well be a good one.

Actually the box ended up giving up 6 copper cents; five of them Wheat cents. Strange box!

Makes sense with something I read on a copper hoarding web site years ago.. About Rydel sorters spitting wheat's out through the zinc chute.. if true, then I think you may have sorted through someones Rydel zinc dump..

Quote: Rydel sorters spitting wheat's out through the zinc chute.. if true, then I think you may have sorted through someones Rydel zinc dump.. I thought the same thing. I did weigh all of the copper cents and they weighed between 2.9 and 3.1 grams. I had heard that about the Ryedales. Maybe it's similar to the reason why Coinstars reject a lot of wheat cents.

I just got the coin-analyzer (similar comparator) and if they are using a copper cent (brass) as the "comparison" coin - it will reject wheats that have a bronze composition. They should have used a zinc as a comparator so it "rejected" copper (including wheats).
I'm still working out the feeding kinks, but the comparator works great - after some personal stuff settles down, I'll do a write up on it.

....bought 2 more 2006 full date OBW rolls from this dealer at the flea market - the guy hates me... lol... always trying to barter with 40% halves that he pretends to not want, but I twist his arm anyways... I always make him bring out the full date rolls so I can see if theres anything interesting... if not, I just buy a couple things from the pick bin and I'm off.... This last time he just got off of a $5000 silver sale and was especially ornery - I looked over his stock and had him snag me 2 2006 rolls in trade for a 40% half - so $2.50 ea. I told him I found some minor doubled reverses and he kinda snickered like he was too good to search varieties or something... SOOOOO.... I just went through the first roll.... nothin... not even a questionable reverse.... 1st coin into the second roll.... BAM! 2006P - 1DO-003 .... second coin... nothing.... third coin BAM! 2006P - 1DO-003 .... fourth coin.... nothin.... fifth coin BBBBAAAAMM! 2006P - 1DO-003!! So I stopped to post this... I'll see what comes of the other 45 coins! Wish me luck... pics to follow...
