I guess it is becoming quite obvious by now that I am trying to assemble a nice "circulation cameo" dime set , considering I am bombarding this forum with grade and opinion requests regarding said coins. So here we go again. This time a 1837 Seated Liberty dime for your critique. I think it is a nice coin. Like the dark field and the lighter Liberty. Grade-wise, I guess VF30, although I'm not sure if I should subtract points for the shield. Edited by NumisEd 12/09/2020 7:44 pm

Hard to beat that one. Maybe EF-40?

Nice clean fields on the obverse, good leaf definitions on reverse, I could see XF40 - and Large Date type

Yes, large date. Forgot to mention that. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh with VF30.
Edit to add: Just noticed I posted in the wrong forum. Oh well...

I'm at VF35. I don't see this hitting XF. Even with the strike weakness, I see too much wear to warrant XF.
Nice example though, I too like the evenness of the obverse fields

I like the color of the coin but the lack of detail on the top part of the shield and going down to weakness in the 'E' in LIBERTY are too noticeable. The flatness in the face is also detracting to me. The leaves on the reverse show wear, especially those close to the bow. I would grade this coin VF-20.

I am currently 37 short of this series which has consumed the better part of 4 years. You assumption concerning the shield leads me to conclude the obverse a low extra-fine. The slight lack in leaf detail on the bottom leaves has me agreeing on your grade. A solid VF-30 for sure. A beautiful large date. Congratulations on finding her!

I consider it VF 35. For XF, Freedom is too much overwritten here. Although I don't rule it out it can also qualify for XF
