Does any of this sound familiar? Only difference is there is no place left to run and our government has become that which our forefathers fled!!! A huge monster out of control and we the people sat back and let it happen! And again today we have the self appointed, self righteous trying to tell all the rest of us how to live and I would assume this has a tremendous amount of influence on WHY we are all fed up with a dead politician on our coinage when this country has a tremendous amount of other things that are worth fighting and dying for. Those are the values I would rather see on our coinage!

Unfortunately, I don't think that a coin design with symbol representing our government or the IRS with a big red circle and line through it would be popular on the Hill.

What I was talking about...do we have to laugh when a president falls down the steps...I bet me and you both have done the same thing in the past--

Susan
You got a point there!

Fall down a few steps? Shoot I have fell out of a set of bleachers DURING a high school basketball game with a camera bag hanging on my shoulder and a 35mm camera hanging around my neck. Landing on my back in the middle of the floor with the game action headed my way! I probably got more of a cheer lying there than anyone who scored after my fall! When I make a boo-boo I usually have to do it in front of the world! I am so used to it that a few years ago, while deer hunting, my tree stand broke loose and of course there was no where to go except down!!! After humbling myself repeatedly INTO that tree, with various parts of my body on the way down and then then sudden stop that placed all of me into the tree, I still managed to take the time, after hitting the ground, to look around to see if anyone was laughing! No human laughter but I am sure the squirrels, raccoons and birds were all saying "What a dumb ---!!!" That is what is so great about this country, somehow WE all manage to laugh even through the pain and our ability to do so probably is the greatest asset we have! Keeps our serious and troubling side at bay, so to speak!

Ford's falling down the steps of Air Force One was just a representation of his tenure as President. It's called symbolism.

Though let's not forget the conditions through which he rose to the presidency. Everything was working against him. He really didn't have a prayer. He had the presidency thrust upon him with no real preparation. I think we all have to admit that the positions of VP and Pres are as different as apples and oranges. I, for one, did not envy his position throughout the Watergate incident and people will always link his name with this fiasco also through no fault of his own.

Well Ford never gave North Korea the technology to build nuclear reactors and Ford never gave China our space technology with the ability to launch missles with direct hits at us and Ford never did a lot of other dangerous things that other Presidents have done. I liked Ford. He was the transitional president and he knew it which is why he laugh with us for he knew the county needed to laugh at the President after being shocked by Nixon and watergate inorder to feel safe about that position of power again but still let us not forget that under his watch Iran was still our ally. Wouldn't want to see him or a host of others on a coin thru.I would rather see patriots and statesmen then politicans and managers. Actually Truman and Reagan are the only two Presidents I could think of since 1944 that I would like to see on a coin but I'm sure there are alot of folks who think otherwise and that is what makes this nation great. Not the Presidents but the people.

I might as well get my Two Cents in on this subject. Even though this is just another series for the mint to make money and to get the dollar to circulate, it is doomd to failure. The banks will refuse to circulated it. They will only be given out if you ask for them and then you will get attitude.

The coins themselves will have a shallow strike and be of inferior quality. We now know just how bad is acceptable to the mint. I have my reasons for being against this series but it will probably pass.
