Tough RPM in any kind of better condition. This one was sold as "D/D" without any attribute. The die break on the reverse easily nails it as RPM-001 Stage-C. Unfortunately someone else figured it out and I paid rather a lot for it. Then I got it and saw that significant scratch across the forehead to the ear. Thought about returning it as I am unsure that it will grade straight. Ended up deciding to keep it as unlikely I'll find a better one. 1930-D/D Lincoln Wheat cent RPM-001, FS-501 Stage-C

Nice one, I'm a fan of the color.
Pity about the scratch though.

Great pick up! For a 90 year old coin still looks nice! The scratch almost looks like a classic staple scratch from a flip? smat

I agree. I feel it is a staple scratch which makes it just a little more painful as totally avoidable.

Excellent strike and nice grade for a tough variety. Shame about the scratch.

Not a straight grade but a great RPM.

Dang. I was going to say those are worth getting slabbed even if they're not Bu. I think there's a lot of registry set guys that don't have the two 1930D rpms and are willing to pay for them. I've got the top pop of both and am going to hold them until I can get a couple big dogs to fight over them! I was astonished at the quickness and money that I got for my 63RB FS-502.
Did you ever get a chance to look at that 70s. I didn't specify but It's yours either way. Thanks
And if you do send it back I have another au that would probably straight grade.

Hi Will, I'll resend the email that may have disappeared in the mists but here is the part about the 1970-S
" The 1970-S proof is DDO-009 and it is WDDO-039 on Wexler's site. That's a tough one to attribute as the doubling is quite soft and pretty much no die markers to look for. On the coin the strongest doubling shows up on the L of LIBERTY while that letter is almost entirely in shadow on VV."
Wish I knew you had an RPM-001 AU! I already agreed to keep this coin and left the guy feedback so pretty hard to return it at this point. But we should talk about this more as I would much rather have a slabbed AU than a details coin. Email me a pic of yours.
Time to shovel the driveway, as we got two feet of snow last night.

Will do. I don't check my email too often, it's probably there. Man shoveling snow is one thing I've never had to do. I do shovel a lot of ice onto fish but I'm getting paid for it.
I just pulled that coin out and it wouldn't straight grade either it has what I would consider a small gouge on the obverse.
