I was cleaning out our attic and stumbled upon my ancestors belongings. He was a World War II pilot. Curious if there is any value.
Thank you

Not a clue. But I would think you might want to put them in a folder or clear sleeve to help flatten them out.

Wait a minute, are they taped together? If so, I wouldn't think that's a good thing!

before you try to remove the tape, take a picture of each one (front and back) and post.
if there is something of value in the bunch you will need professional help getting them apart.
if no value then keep them as a memento of your family's service

Agree with the advice given -

Looks like a possible fun WWII note collection - maybe some of value if we can see them all.

The lower left item is a 1 pound from Australia and has some value. There is a Netherlands Indies one which also may have some value. Some are definitely near worthless, especially with tape residue. I can't even be sure of the country for half of them.

Check the image optimizer tool for loading advice. Also, please orient them correctly.

The tape is like battery acid to clothing. Just so corrosive & problematic. The ones without tape might be worth something (my 2 cents).

[& you know on a side note it always amazes me how many clowns on ebay who have sent/packaged lovely banknotes with tape all over the place & in cheap flimsy taped currency sleeves, etc - extremely frustrating!]

@mike, first welcome to CCF. Second, here is a link to the free CCF photo optimizer. This should help you get your additional pics small enough to be able to post here.

Are there any signatures or dates on those notes? "Short Snorters" are records of where a military person was at and a lot of times will have notations of dates when they were there and signatures from buddies they were stationed with. Sometimes the notes were taped together like that, so they could be folded up, as a souvenir document of their service. I would send pictures via email to the Society of Paper Money (https://www.spmc.org/contact-us) and ask their opinion. They have a couple of guys that write about military paper money and they would know for sure.

Asked a friend of mine that is with the San Diego Paper Money club and the SD Military Coin club to take a look and he said they don't look like a Short Snorter set. More like a personal note collection without military significance. He guessed $30-50 on a good day!

Ah I see what he did he when island hopping :). Yes they are of some value maybe spending money, definitely worth keeping. The Australian 1 pound is worth something not sure but maybe $100 depends on the damage tho. However like what jimjumper has said these are easy and cheap souvenir as the Japanese surrender these dump into the ocean and even and the time island people didn't like using this worthless paper.
