Is it just me or is anyone else having multiple problems with the U.S. Mint . I placed an order for two of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2020 Circulating Coin Set on 19 November. The next day the mint posted it as shipped with a tracking number for the USPS. A month later and checking the tracking number it shows it as a pre shipment label has been made but not arrived to the USPS yet. I tried calling the mint and all I got was a recording and then it hangs up. I tried the online chat and was put on ignore for 12 minutes after they asked me for my name and info. Then I waited another 10 minutes and nothing at all. This morning I try calling and still only a recording then I try the online chat and after asking for help on an order it changed form online chat available to online chat is not available. This is only my most recent problem with them any of you all been through this ? Edited by bcuda 12/21/2020 11:35 am

I finally got through on the online chat and they said were sorry for the problem and canceled my order and would get a refund but could not say when, then told me I would have to reorder them if I wanted them. Wow I am at a loss of any thing good to say about the Mint.

I feel your pain. I am just now getting an order from 11/17 delivered today. I have not made any effort to contact the Mint. I do not need the added frustration.

What a fiasco. I understand cancelling an order as one had been generated, but to ask YOU to reorder if still desired was down right lazy and incompetent on their part. The person you chatted with should have simply done so, yet like so many in this world, "It's not my job".

Who is at fault here though, the mint or the post office? Deliveries seem slower and slower all the time. John1

Quote: Who is at fault here though, the mint or the post office? How about UPS? My previously mentioned 11/17 order was shipped by Big Brown. Another Mint order placed later and shipped USPS got here last week. I also bought a coin on ebay after that and it beat the 11/17 Mint order here as well. Shipping is shipping, COVID XMAS makes it worse than usual. I guess the Mint is suffering just as we all are.

it's not the mint, it's the post office. I had the same situation with the 2020 mint set, and after shaking many trees finally arrived to me 20 days after placing the order, and 26 days after it beng maked shipped by the Mint. The day it was marked shipped and tracking number provided, it was within the next 24 hour period when USPS collected it.
They are neglecting to scan any of them and only scan them to update it when it's close to getting delivered, This way they can claim they don't have it and bounce it around for a while instead of delivering it. If you cancel the order the mint will have to recall the package and wait to get it back because USPS might deliver it still, so they won't refund it until it's back in their possession, in case USPS completes the shipment.
Believe whatever you like but this is what's going on. USPS has it and refuse to scan it and sitting on a big backlog of packages in their possession, but not recorded in their possession. So it's not on their record. If you file a lost package investigation, they will take another 15 days to get you a determination of what happened.

This probably explains how my new Ike showed up out of the blue this weekend. That being said, I do have to say that I have been much happier with USPS than with FedEx SmartPost.

I have, and have documented, the messes the mint customer service has put me through over various orders b/c I had the time to pursue the issue instead of just forgetting about it. The only time they have not given me problems is for a subscription item being shipped and (somehow) the last two special ASEs I got.

US Mint CS Reps. are working from home due to Covid...you just happened to get a lazy one...I've had a few problems (2) with the mint this year and their reps were very helpful to me after a few minutes of "on hold time". I agree and believe your problem is with the shipper.

My problem is with the mint not the post office or any other shipper. My problem is not being able to talk to anyone on the phone, waiting 22 minutes in a online support and still no help, having my online support close in the middle of getting help and saying it is not available anymore in another , placing an order and it being in processing status for over a month, placing another order and it has been processing for 3 weeks now, and more.

Quote: it's not the mint, it's the post office. I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I think it's a combination of both. As of right now I have three orders that are "Processing". Two are subscriptions from 12/13/20 and one is a regular order from 12/15/20. Over the past nine months I've noticed that there is a strong difference in customer service between those who get paid no matter what and those who only get paid if they work. With few exceptions, almost all workplaces can be made safe. My business has about 180 employees. We spread out over three shifts, eliminated face to face meetings, are keeping our production employees as far apart as possible and have mandated that anyone who thinks they might be sick is not allowed to come to work. Thus far we've had about 20 people who have turned up Covid19 positive. Every one of them became sick outside of work from family or friends save one employee who couldn't identify the source. We have not had anyone get sick from a fellow employee (knock on wood). We've done all of this while our sales have gone up about 30%. Our employees are proud of what they've accomplished and have been happy to receive four bonuses this year. The mint and most other companies could absolutely do the something similar, but people are not going to be motivated to create a safe working environment and work if, from top to bottom, they're getting paid the same no matter what. There simply no upside for them. The best thing the mint's employees have going for them is that they're employed by a monopoly.

If you look at the 2020 schedule. nowhere is customer service listed.
All kidding aside, U would not want to be a mint CSR and be yelled at all day for things that aren't your fault and you can't fix.
I guarantee the CSR didn't choose the absurd mintage limit, pick the release date, nor misdesign the web site. They didn't hire the incompetent fulfillment center, nor set up the policies that make your only option a refund and no coin. The CSR doesn't even choose to staff the call center with too few reps to take the calls.
The next time you talk to one of those poor schlubs, remember that YOU wouldn't do their job for what they are getting paid.

I ordered the George H.W. Bush P & D rolls and they gave poor communication on shipment and delivery. I had a larger order previously which came much quicker.
