Hmmm...Looks kinda like Harvey Dent

Nice little lamination. Kinda unique as it's just all in the face

Is there evidence of a die clash or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I think it's a die clash too ,besides a lamination. I see some letters from the reverse E pluribus unium on the obverse the letters BUS unless my eyes are tricking me ,you should post the reverse too. Is there any incused images from the obverse on the reverse ?

I don't see any signs of a die clash.

Its just lamination. If it were a clash the EPU would be 180 degrees rotated and the E-P would be in front of the eye/into the devices near the rim. So I don't think that area is affected.

The straight line effect can be see on several lamination's. Here is an example of one I found.

Youn have to look real hard at the second pic from the top. The l in Liberty go south and you will see the letters SB and maybe U from pluribus they are there

This is ONLY a lamination. A die clash would not affect the raised areas of the design. The areas where some are seeing letters is just an effect of the squared-off edges of the lamination.
