The vendor tells me he thinks this one was cleaned. I imagine for numismatic items this old, that is quite common. What grade do you think this would receive? And do you think NGC would grade this as a details coin for being cleaned or do you think NGC would likely straight grade this? Report this Post to the Staff

I am wondering if this is a good one that NGC would straight grade (if I were to buy it). I like the detail, but even the vendor (who is reputable, and based in Luxembourg) said he thinks it has been cleaned. Report this Post to the Staff
gxseries Pillar of the Community Australia 3831 Posts	Posted 01/08/2021 7:14 pm The way I see when cleaned coins is, if you know the particular coin / token that you are chasing haven't been in the market for a while - I personally would purchase it and upgrade it when the opportunity arises. I've got a few coins in my collection that are cleaned / damaged and haven't come across a better example for more than a decade!
