In the mail today. I bought it off the bay on Monday night, and already arrived!! I gotta go across town and get a couple of rolls of dateless buffs tommorow. I have secured them for $8.50 a roll. Is that bad? Also any tips for my trial run tommorow, and yes I read the other threads. Lots of good info. Thanks for your time!

At .21 cents a coin, not bad. Good luck with your finds. I just went through a roll of "D" and "S" Buffs. Will post my finds tonight. Good luck! Try to keep the "drop" in the date area only for about 20-30 seconds. You will see the date starting to show up than rinse in a nearby container of water. Pat dry and set aside. That's what I do.

Actually, a better method is to "paint" it onto the date area. Squirt a little bit of your Nic-a-date into a bottle cap (like from a plastic milk jug) and then use a small brush to paint it on exactly where you want it. I "paint" the whole shoulder. Makes for a very neat job.

I've never used it but good luck and make sure you keep us informed with what you find.

.21 is pretty high per coin. I get them at .1 per coin from a dealer close to me. On ebay, they go for around that though so its as good as anything else. I recently sold 340 of them for $72.

10 cents each is a heck of a good deal, assuming they're not damaged. I'm happy when I can get them at 20 cents each - especially if they're 10 to 15 percent mint marked.

I would suggest starting with the no mintmark coins to practice. Then once you feel confident of the process switch to the mintmarked coins. I say this because most of the rare ones have mintmarks and you don't want to over do it on those.

I agree with bman's advice, but I'll say this again: Don't "drip" the Nic-a-date onto the coin or place the tip of the bottle to the date area. Instead, "paint" it on with a brush or some other small implement. When done, don't just simply rinse it off. If you just rinse it off there will still be trace amounts left behind and, over time, the date will appear to fade. Rub the pad of your thumb or finger over the date area a couple of times while holding it in a stream of water. The trace amounts of Nic-a-date that come in contact with your skin will not harm you...unless you're a metal robot.
