Quote: David, I hope you find the wavy soon. :) Yes, good luck David, but the odds seem to be against anyone finding one soon. I gave up looking for one years ago, back when you could find more than 14 1966 coins in every 1000 coins searched. What is the estimated mintage of ye old wavy anyway?

Time to catch up. Got several containers of coins sitting around so thought I'd use the time while crook to post them. First lot was a batch of 500. Nice WW2 NCLT and 2004 big head. Only getting 2 1966 coins was a bit disappointing. Total 20c coins noodled = 12960 Total no. of 1966 coins = 181
Number of wavy coins = 0

A batch of 480 coins. 9x 1966 but a bit concerned a few had texta marks. Someone else's rejects? My feathered kiwi friend is back! Also pity about the corrosion on the change-over coin. Total 20c coins noodled = 13440 Total no. of 1966 coins = 190
Number of wavy coins = 0

Number of wavy coins = 0

Another disappointing batch of 480 coins with the NT federation coin being the only highlight. The 2004 bighead is nice but a bit worn. Total 20c coins noodled = 15380 Total no. of 1966 coins = 204
Number of wavy coins = 0

Besides the bag of new coins I recently got, this one was really scraping the barrel for a batch of 480 coins. Only 3 commems, and common ones at that. Total 20c coins noodled = 15860 Total no. of 1966 coins = 209
Number of wavy coins = 0

A 2004 big head saved the day for this batch of 480 coins. And only 1 1966 specimen that is alas a non-wavy. Total 20c coins noodled = 16340 Total no. of 1966 coins = 210
Number of wavy coins = 0

Quote: Getting sick of all the homecoming coins. Over 32 million of them were released into circulation! Been crunching the numbers about how many coins someone has to noodle to have a realistic chance of finding a wavy. Let's be conservative and say 1 in every 1000 1966 is a wavy. At an average of six or seven 1966 20 cent coins in every 500 noodled, one would have to noodle around 75,000 coins. That being said, I've recovered well over a thousand 1966 20 cent coins for my one and only wavy. I hold out very little chance of ever finding another. But, as long as you enjoy noodling 20 cent coins, that's the main thing.

A few more coins coming through in this 480x batch with 9x '66ers to keep the stats rolling. Two federations in 1 batch is a good haul for me. Total 20c coins noodled = 16820 Total no. of 1966 coins = 219
Number of wavy coins = 0

That seems to be the consensus of 1000+ coins. I enjoy getting scarcer coins that I can swap with other collectors and NCLTs always give me joy!
