coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/25/2021 09:24 am We see less of this on post 1990 when the mintmarks are part of the design. I feel on this one, note the fields? See how flat they are? We see full devices. So I feel that on this case, the mintmark punch left a sharp edge when the mintmark was added. So until it flattens, it will keep causing the issue with the split plating. So while this is an earlier die state coin, the split plating issue reduces it to a spendable coin.
