Great looking tokens - I love the New River Gorge and the history there. Bridge day - one day a year they close off the highway and people skydive off of the bridge! Scary but fun to watch!

Good for purchases at the overpriced company store only no doubt. Coal miners are some hard working people.

Neat piece of history!

This has some other neat history behind it as coming from the coal plant run by Homer Hickam's Dad from the book Rocket Boys and the feature movie October Sky. One of my favorites. Very neat piece of history to have there.

Side note "October Sky" is an anagram of Rocket Boys.

There is some information in the Wikipedia pages both on Coalwood, WV

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coalw...est_Virginia

and the Carter Coal Company as well as it's company store which is where these were intended to be used I'm sure.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carte...st_Virginia)

Don't miss the external links on the first link that send you off to some of the other Coalwood pages.

This one even starts off with the same token you posted Nickels_rule:
