My gf and I thought this would be a fun little hobby to get into, little did we know we'd be ripping our hair out before ever finding our first real gem. Was wondering what any of you might make of this. Haven't got a year but there's some pretty decent pictures. Error or tchotchke?

Are you showing us both sides of the cent? Closer, SHARP photos might help. Not sure what a "tchotchke" is. We really need better photos before we can tell you anything.

These look like the same side from a different angle.

This looks like it could be a struck through die cap with full brockage. Very cool find!

Looks like this has a good shot at being a cent struck through a die cap, which would be a very nice find.

But like the rest, I would like to see better pics!

Sorry, not much of a photographer. Tried to get some better pictures. They're all the obverse side, I'll add one of the reverse but it's nothing special from what I can tell. Hopefully these are better

Sorry to say but those pictures are worse. They are pixilated.
Do you have a macro lens on your camera? What setting are you using?

Always post a photo of both sids when making enquiries about a coin.
In this case it could be important.

@00h, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that this might be a struck-through die cap, but having in-focus shots of both sides is key to knowing for sure what you have there.

Looks promising, and looking forward to sharp, large, high-resolution photos of both sides. How did you come to find this coin (divulging only what you're comfortable sharing)?

Absolutely need an image of the reverse. That will tell another part of the story.
