It is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin and there is no way that could happen at that time. Report this Post to the Staff

This coin looks remarkably like a damaged quarter posted within the last week or so. I'll look for it. Follow-up: Took a few moments to perform a hasty search of past posts and found many quarters in similar distress--but not this particular year/mint. I was sure you all were going to have the same opinion of Post Mint Damage just the same as I had tried to explain to the owner of this coin. No matter the explanation, and my lifelong experience in Numismatics, they still believed it to be a mint error coin. I had also invited them to become a member of this forum to get other experienced opinions. Report this Post to the Staff
