coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/05/2021 5:22 pm The bubbling looks like plated over zinc dust on the coin. To me it doesn't look like a Cud as it doesn't rise above the rim and more. Does it press down with a toothpick? Do I see gray color on the rim area? If so it maybe the zinc rot under the plating. (Although I not seen anything this extreme before) Report this Post to the Staff
roostercogburn Valued Member United States 65 Posts	Posted 02/05/2021 5:33 pm It bubbles up about as high as the rim. There is no give when I press on it - its solid. My inclination is a Cud that has had some wear but I am relatively new at this so I am not sure. Report this Post to the Staff

I agree damage of some sort and heat certainly is a possibility. Normally we see that bubbling on overheated clad coins though.
