Is this a Cud? It's pretty worn. Also, the coin has some bubbling.

The bubbling looks like plated over zinc dust on the coin. To me it doesn't look like a Cud as it doesn't rise above the rim and more. Does it press down with a toothpick? Do I see gray color on the rim area? If so it maybe the zinc rot under the plating. (Although I not seen anything this extreme before)

It bubbles up about as high as the rim. There is no give when I press on it - its solid. My inclination is a Cud that has had some wear but I am relatively new at this so I am not sure.

It kind of looks like it's a Cud that somehow took a blow (deliberate?) which flattened it.

Not a Cud because the rim is still distinct all the way past this raised area, right? I agree damage of some sort and heat certainly is a possibility. Normally we see that bubbling on overheated clad coins though.

If it were a Cud I would expect to see weak strike on the reverse in that area

Im with Spence. If that was a Cud, that rim would be gone. I think its corrosion under the plating, zinc rot. Bigger pics of the reverse?
