Here is a new rabbit hole that I've started to go down.

I'm attempting to compile a list of 1956-D LWC varieties that have either a solid 6 or a broken 6 in the date.

Due to the lack of adequate online photos of the date or lack of uploaded files for the following varieties, determination of a solid or broken 6 is not possible at this time.

I am seeking out collectors, here, that might have some of these varieties in their collections and are willing to provide reference photos and confirmation of either a solid or broken 6 in their dates.

Also, if any collectors have made any cross-reference determinations between CopperCoins.com and DoubledDie.com varieties, that information would be most welcome, as well.

Solid 6 example:

Broken 6 example:

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Well the issue is not the die. It is the working hub that was the issue. Thus several dies have this issue. Some normal and RPMs. Pretty common that year.

On a broken hub, the affected area is blank. It has happened a few times on the die though the years:

Thanks, Coop!

I had you in mind, when I posted this. I hoped that you would chime in.

I realize that there are a lot of known, documented examples of this broken 6 (P&D), but I'm trying to find out which 6 the listed varieties are. My list is of those varieties with no images of the 6 in the date. I'm hoping that other collectors can fill in the gaps.

Thank you!

Check the three sites for RPMs on cents, also doubled dies. That way you can see images as well. Some I've listed, were ones I've discovered.

Coop,

The varieties that I have listed do not have photos of the entire date in order to see a solid or broken 6.

Interesting observation, I have never noticed the difference in the sixes.

One source you might seek is 'mustbebob' [Bob Piazza] on Lincolncentforum.com [if you are on that site]. He may have special insight being that he also attributed for coppercoins.com.

I believe that 1956 is his birth year so it is of particular interest.
