Good evening CoinCommunity!

Found this penny CRH, and I am not sure exactly what it is. My first thought was a die chip of some kind, but it really looks like the base of a letter, maybe a partial D? Has anybody seen anything like this? Does anybody happen to know what it is?

Try pressing it down with a toothpick. If it gives, gas bubble. If it doesn't, it maybe a die gouge.
