Hi Friends.. so wondering if 1983 yielded any aluminum Lincoln cents. I found this one in lose change in my pocket and when I put it on the table it sounded funny and that's when I saw it. It's all the same color and the weight is 2.39 grams... any insight >? Thanks

2.5 Grams is normal for a zinc cent. The 1974 alum 0.93 grams:

Nothing known or even mentioned about aluminum cents in 1983. It was the transitional year from copper to zinc/copper coated cents, possible it's a zinc missing the copper coating? Or a dime planchet mistrike, even a silver or painted cent, I've seen it all over the years.

clear well cropped Photos are needed, in focus with enough detail to examine close up.
