Hello Everyone. I am a bit new here and am pleased to meet you all. I have a 1991 D Lincoln Cent which I sent this information over to heritage for their evaluation. They believe this should be graded and wanted me to get back to them to sell on their site. I have taken it to two coin places in town. Both are baffled and say...its not sprayed or a science project ? its not fake? It does weigh 2.5 I does slightly stick to a magnet and its not steel. One man thought it was a planchet error? I has been my little one in a million for many years now. I would like so much to hear what everyone thinks .ooh..I almost forgot its shinny silver in color like a new dime?
Crazy . Thank you

To the CCF

It looks to me that it is just a plated coin. Don't see how it could be a planchet error as the US mint stopped producing Foreign coins in 1984. Wait to see what others have to say.

Just a plated coin. (Done well though) But is now just a face value coin. Not a mint error, the coin was altered. Just a spender.

Better photos would help--large, high resolution--using diffused lighting. Obverse and reverse images, please. Thanks.

Heritage wants it graded so they don't have to spend time with a plated cent. It is slightly magnetic because it was (probably) plated with nickel and nickel is magnetic. As far as the 2 coin shops? Who knows why they are "Baffled"

EDIT: Just to add - Nickel plating is very "shiny" and rivals chrome plating.

to CCF. Looks like a plated coin to me. Being slightly magnetic leads me to think plated with nickel?

It may, but who's to say your cent wasn't 2.4 something before plating? To be more accurate you need at least a .00g scale. Your cent can actually weigh 2.59 wich is ample enough to cover the weight of plating which is usually nominal

There is another person who has one like it from 195? She explains in a video and was looking for answers too. They don't look plated its so perfect and the weight is not off.

Normal weight is 2.5 grams, +/- .10 grams mint tolerance.
Does Heritage charge? If they don't you might want to send it to them, but you will still have to pay postage...sooo?

Can you tell me your thoughts on this 1964D Lincoln Cent? I though it was a new penny when I found it in my room. I wish I could age like that..

And I know this one looks almost too good to be real too but I did not clean it or paint it. Its just the way I found it. Shinny and new
Is it in pretty good condition? Or is it just me attracted to the shinny thing?

64s are not hard to find like that.

This bucket is all 1964 and 1964 Ds. All BU, we gave them away to kids at shows.
