I found this penny under my house. It's almost oval shaped. It's a 1983

Agree. Damaged coin--happened after being struck at the mint. Cool find. Wonder what stories it could tell.

The one thing I have to add is that that looks like an '82, not '83.

Looks like a "Texas" cent. The stretching makes the plating fall off the coin.

Pennies aren't oval shaped.
Keep it. Little defects like these make a coin awesome.
Even though it is P (poor grade as of PCGS) it's still interesting

It will never be worth more than face. And with the missing plating the zinc will be rotting fast.

The PO-01 grade is for coins that are worn to the point of being almost (but not quite) unrecognizable. I expect this would get something like XF details, if they graded it at all.

I was talking about the face.

But I'm new here, I'm sorry. Not a professional coin grader, but it was my opinion.

Thanks a lot though!

Given the right conditions, the zinc coins will expand and warp. These were in a jar [not the shiny one].

Fire, The zinc will melt long before the copper does. Flattens out the coin and warps it like you see. Then someone found them and put them in a jar. Maybe metal detecting
