Hi, and apologies for the inferior pics. I'm just trying to learn a bit of basic grading skills here, so please indulge a newbie. Here's an 1800 cent I own - I'm interested to see how the community would grade it - spots on obverse are on the flip.

Cool coin!

Are the light colored areas on the obverse on the coin or glares from the 2x2 holder? Also, behind the bow is something in the shape of a ribbon as well as a couple small white spots above it... are this on the coin?

to CCF. Looks like a G-6 in grade https://www.PCGS.com/photograde#/Dr...tCent/Grades
When you put it in a new 2x2 make sure to flatten the staples.

I vote there is enough detail in the hair, eye, and smile to pull an VG8. The weakness in liberty is what might hold it too a G6 though.

I agree with G6, borderline VG but not quite. Great looking coin!

Thankyou! I had put it myself at a Good 4. Glad to see my guesstimate was pretty close to more expert assessments - with a bit of a pleasant surprise.

Solid G-06, most attractive example.

I'm in the G6 bin also on this one. not sure which color it is. the darker brown of the first set of photos or the lighter ones in the second set. the second set is displaying the coin as an older cleaning

The darker color is the reality. I believe my iPhone adjusted the colors on me to try to "optimize" the view. I'm having this issue on the copper coins I'm posting here, but don't have the experience with taking detailed pictures of coins with the iPhone. As the coins I'm posting are not for sale and are part of my learning curve, please just bear with me and I'll get better. I'm about to post a 1773 VA half penny with the same picture problems - sorry in advance.

So close to being an 08. Can we invent a 07?

Great coin for its history alone. If you haven't done so already, you should check Variety Plus at NGCcoin.com under Resources. It lists a whopping 31 varieties for this coin. PCGS recognizes a few of them in its price guide and a couple are more valuable in G-06.

Stay well,
