Not a nickel RPM expert here but I have researched this on some external sites and haven't seen anything close even though VV does list a RPM of this year and mint. Just need an RPM guru on here to give a Yay or Nay.... The only reason I thought this may be a potential RPM, and not an issue of MD or DD, is the relatively decent strike on this coin (in my opinion) as you can see in the LIBERTY, star and date pic. Looks like an extra leg on the D and also the mint mark does not appear to be lessened in size and thickness. Don't know...... thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I believe this is minor Die Deterioration. The inside of the mintmark is doubled in all directions, impossible for a RPM. Also, you can see similar doubling at the top of the 4.

Thanks Tanman. I'm sitting here looking at this coin as I type. That's what kind of threw me off too, the inside of the D but what looked like the extra leg caught my attention. I can go with that. I think what you're seeing on the top of the 4 is where it took a slight hit. I just looked at that area and it appears to be a small dent. Thank you.

If it is Machine Doubling, check the left side of the bust to see if any Machine Doubling on that side?

Hey coop. Is this the area you are referring to? If so, I do not see any signs of MD. Thanks.

Hoping you will see my last picture coop. I have examined this coin on all areas of the bust and the coat and do not see any MD whatsoever. Is there something I should be seeing based on your last reply that would possibly make this an RPM? Any further comment would be greatly appreciated so I can put this one to rest. Thanks.

Note the inside of 4. You can see the MD inside the area. It is not a RPM. On a RPM the punches there should be a spread between punching. There's none on your coin . The areas your looking are on the areas you find MD. On the outside of the devices is where MD is found. Take a look at a RPM page to see what they look like. Then you will see what I'm talking about. The RPMS are larger than a normal mintmark .
