I'm considering buying this coin from ebay:

Is-This-1972-P-Ike-A-Peg-Leg-Coin?

I could post up the ebay listing if everybody promises to NOT to jump on it and buy it before I decide what to do..

It would appear so...no 'forward' serif on the R.

These are nothing but a polished die. An all the rest of the coins struck with this die will show the same thing. (And can even get worse if it ends up on the polishing table again)
They are just a die event.

I agree. I would never pay a premium for one, but to each their own. With that being said, it appears to fit the description. If you like it, get it.

Of course, being a 1972, I am more interested in what the earth looks like on the reverse.

Yes, I'm aware of these different types of the '72 Ike

I have posted a graphic on this in the 'post an Ike" forum. here is a copy (not nearly as nice as yours, Coop). But I was more concerned about this particular coin in this thread being a 'peg leg' than anything else

BUT that being said - a peg leg type 2 1972-p Eisenhower would be Awesome..

Is-This-1972-P-Ike-A-Peg-Leg-Coin?

Edit: But this coin looks like a type 1
