My first reaction is post strike damage--not a mint error. Suggest posting much larger, sharp photos, closely cropped to the coin. Thanks.

Definitely damage. No way that could happen during the striking of the coin.

I agree, post mint damage ( PMD) Didn't leave the mint looking like this.

Even if it were, the damage would cancel out the value for it. A damaged coin is just a face value coin.

Coin may have flirted with an acid exposure at some point, too.
