twood89 Valued Member United States 278 Posts	Posted 03/15/2021 11:48 pm I have been piling up some Arabic silver coins which I have been unable to fully attribute over the past couple months and am now posting them here to complete their attributions (I cannot read Arabic or Kufic). Any help would be most appreciated with reading the dates/mints and locating specific Album #s for the 16 coins pictures individually below (obverse and reverse of each with weight and diameter on card). 1 and 4 appear to be Umayyad Caliphate Dirhams, wheras 2 and 3 appear to be Abbasid (3 being Harun Al-Rashid?). 5, 6, 7, and 8 may be Buyid or some other localer dynasty. 9 and 10 I am not able to give any guess on. 11 appears to be Samanid. 12-16 all appear to be Artiqids of Mardin in Ayyubid style. If you have read this far I really appreciate the time and consideration you may be willing to give. Report this Post to the Staff

twood89 Valued Member United States 278 Posts	Posted 03/16/2021 3:38 pm Numbers 12-16 do have a star design which looks similar to much later Moroccan coinage, however 12-16 look to be very similar to Album #1834 Artuqid Dirhams in the Ayyubid Style (pictures attached). The problem is just that I cannot read the Arabic nor Kufic inscriptions and do not properly understand how to differentiate between types, inscription variants. Report this Post to the Staff

This little book is actually a series of progressive lessons (complete with quizzes!). It's also a useful reference once you've picked up the basics.
