Was curious about everyone's opinion in this 1877 IHC that is currently listed on ebay. The NGC label looks faded and wrong and the 1877 IHC is clearly missing the weak N reverse. I doesn't appear to be a mislabeled proof to me and seems counterfeit. What do you think?

It's got me scratching my head.
The coin appears to be a LOT better than VF-30.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/193977981572 Here is the listing. Might've been a crackout and thought why not reuse the label!

Seller wants us to believe they sent this coin in and got this slab back. Note, it doesn't match NGC's image of the VF coin. This fake is a much higher grade than VF.

"I feel I got a bad grade with NGC"

note: good catch Taylorism

Good job. Bold N reverse gives it away.

Curious if it's an altered date or just an entire counterfeit coin? From the pictures I am thinking just an entire counterfeit. The Obverse design seems soft and the details just not right.

Good! In the seller's description they claimed to have sent it in to NGC, so they knew it was fake.

The date logo, especially the 8, is definitely off.

What's not to like with a peeling TPG label?

Yeah, the grade should be more like an AU-58, and with coinfrog that the 8 in the date looks wrong in general.
