Poll Question
Looks really cool under magnification . How is this possible? Melted? High heat?

Does it really matter? It is a damaged coin.

Full photos very welcome. Certainly post=strike damage. Could be the result of a swim in acid or a brief fling with a butane torch.

Looks like die deuteriations or an improperly annealed planchet. I have a couple of pennies that look similar to the portion that I can see there. If the whole reverse of the quarter looks like that it could be a strike through of some kind.

Unique New Jersey quarter. . The 1999 seem to be a Tutankhamun script of year 1000 BC with coma under 0. And also a special time flying coins at 1945 Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Will be nice to see all the coin photo.

What if that was the best spot? (It could be?) The rest of the coin could look like an oil spot on the pavement, where the coin melted? You just never know for sure. LOL
