Picked this up at a coin shop for $4 bucks. This is really neat and wanted to share. They had one more but I can make out more on this one.

Someone rescued it from the re-cycling bin sold by the mint. The reason they are waffled is to keep the blanks from being used in vending machines.

I thought it was neat. I read a bit on it. And seems like the contract company that was supposed to recycle them let a few slip. I dont know much more. I read some on a collectors forum and then got company. I dont know the value, how many there are, or how I can get it checked. Nice peace for 4 bucks.

Is scrap metal from mint. Coop put the right photos. Not value just example of mint production. Probably some workers from the recycling metal company find out that can foolish some buyers. Your sample maybe worth .05$ and not shore.

Here's a set of waffles from my collection. I used to have several slabbed examples, mostly Kennedy halves, and even had a 1979 Susan B. Anthony that was minted long before they started the waffle cancel process. I love the way they look. Click the photo for a larger image

It's worth more then .05 from what I was reading. I'm gonna go try and get the other one. From what I read the workers from the contract recycle company got hands on them. There are people collecting graded sets of these. One has a list up of what he is missing and will buy your waffles coin just for his set. I'm just glad I got one for my collection. Dont have a mint on either two coins but the one I have you can still see O of North and Dakota. I'm still looking for more reading on the waffles coins. @Yokozuna nice. The Kennedy half is really nice.
