I have been on the fence all year about ordering one of these. On the one hand I have all the other ones with the State Quarters, on the other it doesn't look like they are ever going to stop making new quarter types. I finally decided to buy, but when I went to the Us Mint site they are sold out. Does anyone have any idea as to why they sold out? Are these selling for a premium now?

It would appear that there is a premium, they are selling for around $50.00 and I think they were around $27.00 from the Mint. I think the coin collecting world has gained a lot of members with gold and silver shooting up so fast earlier this year before settling back down where they belong.

Its sold out at the mint. I ordered the unc and proof together to break up as I need the individuals but now I'm thinking of holding it and see what happens.

I bought a 2008 silver proof set and a mint set to complete my Statehood Quarters. I broke them out. I will just keep the leftovers for Dansco albums, etc. if I feel like I should do so.

I waited and waited saying to myself I will order the proof set soon as I need that and the 1999 to finish the set then I got to the mints site and they are sold out. why is there a premium all ready for these. and dont even get me started on the 1999 set I had like 4 or 5 silver sets when they were 150-200 dollars and I traded or sold them all because when I just started collecting I was very picky about my coins and if any coin had so much as a spot on it I did not want it. i still am picky though not as much so.

yeah I learned after missing out on the 2006 ASE set not to wait around... if there is something you want buy it then if you can ... did not realize they were going for a premium but I assume its hype of it being the last year of the Statehood Quarters

I didn't think about this being a set that would sell out. Some of the past years sets could still be bought into the following year. I guess I expected these to be available well into 2009. That's what I get for thinking.

If you do your homework you will see that these are still around in some small coin dealers shops, at least around these parts,PROOF AND MINT SETS, NY...

Put a request in the want to buy section if you need one. That's a subtle hint by the way.

Eventually these show up at my coin dealer for less than issue, to heck with over-paying the mint. MHO

I think they will come back down in price over the next year.
