i have a 32d quarter with questionable authenticity. if anyone has information on all the dies used that year, I would appreciate any pictures of diagnostics. the mint mark is the right style and has the bold look of a genuine D for that year, while also having the same wear as the rest of the reverse, so if it is altered, it was well circulated afterward. the coin is an AG3 at best and the fields are worn and beat up a bit so die polishing lines are difficult to see; however, there are polishing lines in some of the protected areas but not enough that I would say that it is definitely not a philly coin. although the mint mark is of the right style and appears to be part of the coin, the field around the mint mark is rough; however the field around some other devices on the reverse is rough too. I'm about 70% sure this is an altered coin but I want to be 100% sure either way before I do anything with it. if it is a fake, its a really good one. what I am looking for from someone is pictures of the proper position of the mint mark on all dies, lettering/date positions specific to denver, diagnostic die gauges and scratches, or diagnostic polishing lines. info for even the number of reeds on the edge if theres a difference between denver and philly coins that year. and no, I am not sending it to a grading service; thats the easy way out

Hey littleboy,

Send a note to staff, but those wonderful people might find and move this before you contact them.

anyways, if you see a reeding gouge or defect, that would always raise some questions, especially if it's such a wanted coin.

Pics Please !!
